No form of vacation is as flexible and versatile as caravaning. No wonder that the trend is increasingly towards mobile travel. In 2019, there were more new registrations than ever before, with around 81,000 recreational vehicles. Around 14.2 million Germans over the age of 18 can imagine taking a caravaning vacation in the next five years. But how exactly do Germans imagine the ideal recreational vehicle? Our entry-level brand Carado asked itself this question in a study conducted together with the market research company Dynata – and in the next step answered it with a concept car that meets all these requirements.
The 3.5-ton vehicle based on the Integrated I449 features an impressive level of spaciousness. The approximately 7.5 meter-long vehicle has a large walk-in rear garage, a well thought-out bathroom and kitchen concepts and numerous functional ideas. For 86 percent of those surveyed, a practically designed motor home is a particularly important criterion.
In the Carado concept car, this already begins with the floor-to-ceiling rear garage, in which bicycles are stowed vertically to save space. E-bikes can also be conveniently charged using two 220-volt sockets. Hikers can stow their dirty mountain boots in a floor compartment, dry their wet clothes on the wall heater and change their shoes and clothes easily in the spacious corridor. This is designed for the 81 percent of those surveyed who like to actively hike or stroll during their vacations.
Because the way to someone’s heart is through their stomach, culinary enjoyment should not be neglected in a motor home. In order to cook on the road, practical equipment in the kitchen is particularly important. The kitchen block not only offers sufficient space, but is also equipped with high-quality appliances such as a hybrid cooker with two gas flames, an induction hob and a mains-powered wine refrigerator. For easy cleaning there is a splash guard for the kitchen window. The spacious drawers and the large refrigerator can hold sufficient food and cooking utensils.
A special highlight is the flexible use of the table in the lounge area. The table can be stowed away completely under the seating group. It is infinitely adjustable and can therefore be used as a couch or dining table and can even be taken outside. After all, 89 percent of Germans want to use their motor home vacation to barbecue or picnic together. To ensure that the evening goes on as long and cozy as possible, the LED strip on the awning provides atmospheric lighting.
75 percent of those surveyed also attach importance to a spacious bathroom. In the Carado concept vehicle this is taken care of with a partitionable bathroom, a free-standing and easily accessible sink and a ground-level corner shower. Direct access from the bathroom to the closet provides sufficient storage space for bathroom accessories at all times.
Relaxing and reading are important for 65 percent of Germans on vacation. Carado has designed an ergonomic seating group especially for this purpose, which is just as comfortable as your sofa at home. This can be used not only for reading, but also for listening to music or watching television. The soundbar with stereo effect provides you with the best sound quality possible. On the 32-inch TV you can end the evening comfortably with a movie.
A true-to-concept series production of the vehicle is currently not in the works, but some features will appear in the series vehicles. Further information on the current Carado models can be found here.
