The lightweight caravan "COCO" by Dethleffs has an empty weight of only 708 kilogrammes due to the revolutionary construction approach ICON.
The caravan only weighs 708 kilograms – more than 100 kilogrammes less than comparable caravans of its size: As the first caravan among the brands of the Erwin Hymer Group, the "COCO" by Dethleffs utilises the revolutionary construction approach ICON. The acronym ICON stands for Intelligent CONstruction and combines the most effective instruments of lightweight caravan engineering.
ICON relies on fundamental design principles of nature such as the principle of constant tension. The new COCO by Dethleffs utilises this principle, resulting in walls that are both more stable and thinner.
ICON examines the structure of each component. Computer-assisted procedures simulate stresses such as weight loads or bending before such strains become a problem. The goal is to achieve a perfect balance between high stability and low weight.
For COCO, there is no classic spatial division. Elements such as the kitchen, lounge and seating area are consistently designed as multi-functional. In only a few steps, the lounge can be transformed into a sunbathing lawn and the dining table into an expanded work surface in the kitchen.
COCO no longer uses heavy PVC floors. Rather lightweight, glass-fibre reinforced cover plates ensure high stability. Recycled PET fibres between the plates create an insulation layer with optimal insulation values.
